Department of Defense
High Performance Computing Modernization Program

The Computational Technology Area Advisory Panel (CTAAP) meets semi-annually to improve the effectiveness of the High Performance Computing Modernization Program (HPCMP) user community, and extends the impact of high performance computing (HPC) and computational technologies on the mission of the DoD by:

  • Advising the HPCMP Director and stakeholder community on the probable technical impacts of proposed HPCMP actions on Department of Defense's (DoD’s) science and engineering challenges;
  • Recommending changes to current HPCMP practices and technologies that will further the productivity of the HPCMP user community; and by
  • Suggesting new practices or technologies that will improve the productivity of current HPCMP users, or extending the transformational impact of HPCMP technologies and expertise into new user communities within DoD.

The CTAAP provides a vital connection to the domain experts actively working in the DoD computational disciplines. Their perspective enables the Program to develop a pervasive culture among DoD’s scientists and engineers in which they routinely use advanced computational environments to solve the most demanding problems.
