High Performance Computing Modernization Program

Commercial Internet Service Providers (ISPs), research networks and government networks began providing dual stack (Internet Protocol version 6 [IPv6] in addition to legacy IPv4) services well before World IPv6 Launch, June 6, 2012. 

A list of commercial (ISPs) in the United States (US) and other countries that began offering dual stack (Internet Protocol version 6 [IPv6] in addition to legacy IPv4) services on or before World IPv6 Launch is available here. (In the Search box, enter “United States” to filter the list for ISPs in the US.) The ISPs also offer dual stack internet transit services.

Outside the US a partial listing of commercial ISPs that provide dual stack services may be found here. (To filter the list for a specific country, choose "Region/Country" in the pick list () and enter a 2-character country name in the Search box.) In the World Report maintained by the Hurricane Electric corporation, click on the "Report" button in the Report column for the country of interest. ISPs with non-zero entries in their "Routes v6" column offer IPv6 services. Another list of US and international ISPs that provide dual stack services is available here. In China, Alibaba has announced dual-stack service in conjunction with China Telecom, China Mobile, and China Unicom on the Alibaba Cloud, and will provide IPv6-only service in the future.

Note 1: Sprint Corp. and T-Mobile US, Inc. began the process of merging in early 2018 and completed it in early 2020. The company will be called T-Mobile US, Inc. going forward.
Note 2: The HPCMP DREN also serves as an ISP for the DoD research and engineering community, and (on a case-by-case basis) for other government organizations. This IPv6 Knowledge Base is an outgrowth of work done by DREN.
