High Performance Computing Modernization Program

HPC Training is available in the following categories:

Getting started new user training: Everything you need to know to get started using DSRC systems.
Analysis: Visualization and analysis tools to better understand your data.
Tools for specific computational technology areas: How to use computational commercial and government codes available on the systems.
Code development: HPC specific courses relating to code and script development, as well as programming for hardware accelerators.
Performance and optimization: How to get the most out of your code with performance monitoring and optimization tools.

Online Training Courses and Course Recordings

New user training modules, recent HPC seminar recordings, training event recordings, and registration for in person training events are available at the HPC Training website (https://training.hpc.mil). All active HPCMP (non-ORS) users have access to this site.

Online HPC Seminars

The HPC Seminars are short (approximately an hour) webinars on various subjects of interest to HPC users. The URL for all of the webinars is https://okcmedia.erdc.hpc.mil/hpcseminar. No registration is required; however, participants need to email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to obtain a passcode.

You should also test your system prior to the webcast to make sure that it will be compatible with our Adobe Connect webcast server: If you are running Windows, use Firefox or Internet Explorer. If you are on a Mac, use Safari, Chrome, or Firefox. Our server is NOT compatible with any version of Linux. Here is the test link: https://my.adobeconnect.com/common/help/en/support/meeting_test.htm. Your machine should pass tests 1, 2, & 3; passing the 4th test is unnecessary to receive a webcast.

Training Events

Additional or special training events can be requested and scheduled for advanced HPC topics and special subjects of interest to a group of HPC users. Training events are normally one half to a few days long, require a minimum number of registered attendees, are planned at least three months in advance and are formal training or workshop nature. Training events can be scheduled for delivery on-site, in person with a formal classroom, or via a web cast/VTC/virtual classroom.

Training events can include formal user training on specific HPC applications (like US3D, LAMPS, ALE3D, CTH, etc.), instruction on HPC programming techniques and technologies (such as MPI, Python, R, etc.), or instruction or workshops on new and emerging computational technologies (including deep learning, neural nets, GPU/PHI accelerators, etc.).

Requesting Training: To request a training event, email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. The training coordinator will contact you and discuss your needs and help determine what type of event is the best and what the priority and costs will be. Reasonable costs for training events are covered by the HPCMP, depending on priority of the need, the value of the event, and the number of attendees expected.
