In an effort to support large application software development projects and other types of computational work that might have a strong need for a significant dedicated partition on a high performance computing system, the High Performance Computing Modernization Program (HPCMP) introduced a new resource delivery mode, the Dedicated Support Partition (DSP), in the spring of FY 2011. A Dedicated Support Partition (DSP) supports a project in need of dedicated processors for a significant period of time to accomplish work that could not otherwise be done in a shared resource environment. A DSP should be proposed ONLY when the computational work requires a substantial length of dedicated time on HPCMP computational resources and cannot be serviced through any of the normal service delivery modes, including batch processing, interactive processing, or the advance reservation service. If this crucial test is met, a DSP proposal may be submitted by any project leader with an active HPCMP computational project by following the process outline in the High Performance Computing Modernization Program (HPCMP) Dedicated Support Partition (DSP) Proposal Process (DoD PKI Required).

The Department of Defense (DoD) established the High Performance Computing Modernization Program (HPCMP) as a department-wide program to provide DoD scientists, engineers, and acquisition professionals with the computational resources needed to develop robust solutions to complete technical challenges.
This Secret Defense Research and Engineering Network (SDREN) Connection Approval Process (CAP) establishes the terms and conditions for connecting to the SDREN. The organization and the potential SDREN site’s Designated Approving Authority (DAA) must concur with all terms of this SDREN CAP as a prerequisite to receiving and retaining a SDREN connection.
